How to Make Apple Pie Vodka

  1. Slice the apple into thin slivers.
  2. In a large glass or plastic container, combine the vodka, apple slices, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger.
  3. Place the container in the fridge so the flavors can be infused into the vodka.
  4. Shake the container a couple times so that the flavors can combine better.
  5. Once the flavor has been infused, strain the vodka into a clean container. Use either a mesh sieve or cheese cloth.
  6. Combine the sugar with water in a saucepan and heat it up over the stove.
  7. Stir this until the sugar is dissolved. Bring it to a simmer and cook.
  8. Remove the sugar from the heat—this is your simple syrup.
  9. Add the simple syrup to the infused vodka and vanilla extract and stir well until it’s combined.
  10. Store the infused vodka in a sealed glass container. In the fridge.

Tips & Tricks

Sieve or Cheese Cloth

A sieve is a strainer, but with a fine mesh material so that smaller grains are separated from the liquid.

Cheese cloth is a thin cloth—usually used for making cheese—that looks a lot like gauze, but it’s used to strain liquid.

Either one of these works great for this apple pie vodka recipe.

Soak It

Make sure you soak your vodka for the full 48 hours so that the spices are released into the vodka. If you drink it right away, you won’t notice much of a difference in the flavor.

Use Sweet Apples

You can use a variety of apples in your apple pie vodka. Try using more than one type of apple for different flavors of apple pie vodka.

Try Gala, Fuji, Braeburn, Pink Lady, or Honey Crisp apples.

Leftover Syrup

You’ll likely have some remaining simple syrup. This is great for mixing cocktails—especially mojitos.

Apple Pie Vodka FAQs

Can vodka be made from apples?

Yes, vodka can be made from anything with sugar or starch, though it’s usually made of grains. But it can be made with apples—though this doesn’t leave an apple flavor.

But this apple pie vodka recipe will definitely leave you with an apple pie flavor. You create this flavor by adding fresh apples and spices to your vodka and letting the flavors release into the drink.
