Storage

This vegan vanilla frosting can be kept in the fridge for 3 days. If you want to store it for longer, it can be frozen for 1 month. Just let it thaw to room temperature before using it.

Non-dairy Milk

If you’re not sure what type of non-dairy milk to use, some easy-to-find options are almond milk, rice milk, and coconut milk.

Many grocery stores carry these non-dairy options in the dairy section.

If you want to make your frosting a tad bit thicker and creamier, you might try using canned coconut milk.

Let Baked Goods Cool

Make sure your baked goods are completely cooled before you ice them with this frosting. Otherwise, you’ll end up with melted frosting.

Piping on Icing

This icing can be put in an icing bag and piped onto your baked creations.

If you don’t have piping supplies, then you can put the icing in a Ziploc bag and seal it closed. Then, cut off a small triangle-shaped corner from the bag. This is where your frosting will come out once you squeeze the bag.

If you don’t want to deal with piping the frosting, you can use a spatula to spread the frosting on a cake or cookies.

Variations

Flavored Icing

If you want to add some flavor to your frosting, you can easily exchange the vanilla extract for another extract flavor.

You can use mint extract to make mint frosting that goes great with chocolate cupcakes!

Adding Color

In order to add color to your frosting, add a few drops of liquid or gel food coloring. The liquid will change the consistency of the frosting slightly, so don’t add too much.

For a stronger color, use gel food coloring.
