I feel I owe you an explanation.
It has been a long time since my last recipe post and posted on Delicious Everyday’s social media accounts.
Delicious Everyday was a huge part of my life for such a long time (almost 10 years now). I watched it grow and felt excitement when you told me you loved a recipe and disappointment when I received feedback from people who didn’t.
The blogging world has changed vastly over the last few years. So much so that it became a place that was making me feel extremely anxious. I lost my joy for cooking. I began to feel my recipes and photographs weren’t good enough. I’d stress whether a dish I made was “blog worthy” rather than whether I or my husband simply enjoyed it.
I felt the stress of having to keep up with my fellow bloggers and be everywhere….Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. I commiserated with my fellow bloggers over the ongoing changes to social media that made it harder and harder for us to reach our audiences.
As I started getting more and more work from my Food Photography and Food Styling business I took the opportunity to have a break from Delicious Everyday and gave myself the challenge to focus solely on my business and see where it took me.
Well, that focus has paid off as it has grown in leaps and bounds and has finally turned into my full-time job!
Here are just some of the things I’ve worked on in the last few months
I worked as a food stylist and prop stylist on commercials for Continental and Super Amart.
I’ve worked on food photography and food styling projects for food businesses, restaurants, producers and brands in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Lockyer Valley and Sunshine Coast.
I’ve photographed beautifully plated dishes lovingly prepared by chefs, chefs in action capturing step by step images of a recipe being created, beautiful produce and I’ve even taken photos of people on occasion. Some of which you can see below.
As a result of stepping back from Delicious Everyday, I’ve begun to rediscover my joy for cooking and experimenting in the kitchen again. I’m no longer interested in playing all the games that bloggers must play. When I’m back sharing a recipe it will be because it is something my husband and I truly enjoy. And that I hope YOU will enjoy too!
I do feel bad for neglecting you for as long as I have, but we all need to take a step back from time to time and reassess and rediscover the joy that we once had. Right now my focus is on my business and continuing its growth, and sharing recipes with you when I feel I have something I think worthy of sharing. That means I probably won’t be sharing recipes on a regular basis, at least for now.
I hope you’ll stick with me because I truly do value your support. If you’d like to follow my business adventures you can do so on Facebook here and Instagram here.
